![]() ![]() Family was very important, and Bill always made sure to keep up with his extended clan overseas. His love of astronomy would take him outside on cloudless nights with his telescope where he would spend hours gazing at Jupiter, Saturn, and far-away galaxies. Bill had an inquisitive mind and a remarkable thirst for knowledge and was always surrounded by stacks of books, passages of his own writings, and reams of sudoku puzzles. Throughout his life, Bill spent countless hours contributing to his city, church (Grace Presbyterian), and community, volunteering at events, on numerous boards and committees, and through local charities such as Inn from the Cold and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. In a career that spanned five decades, Bill worked as a geologist/geophysicist in Calgary, the UK, and the South Pacific, later becoming a lecturer at SAIT. Soon after arriving in Canada, Bill met his life's companion Leona (née Skibo), whom he married in 1970, and subsequently spent 51 years with. Lured by the petroleum industry and looking for adventure, Bill came to Calgary in 1964. This fed his academic passions and he subsequently graduated from the University of Aberdeen with an honours geology and geophysics degree. In his youth, Bill was captivated by the amazing beauty and complex geology of the British Isles. Barclay, Bill was the fifth child of seven. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland on February 17, 1938, to Gudbjorg Jonsson and Adam S.H. Shortly after midnight on January 10, 2022, William (Bill) Barclay passed away peacefully, still bathed in the glow of a magnificent Chinook arch sunset hours earlier, and surrounded by music, prayers, and his family's love. He is survived by his children, Rose Audia-Ranieri and Dominic Maurice Audia his grandchildren, Luke Anthony Ranieri and Nicole Flora Ranieri his sister Maria (Tony) Urbani, his in-laws Bruna Audia, Joe Muto, Lena Fletcher, Albert (Elaine) Iacovone as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. He loved travelling for both work and family vacations to cities all over the globe but his favourite was always Rome. By mid-life, he also built a successful construction and land development company, alongside his brother, in an effort to continually challenge himself. #DOUGLAS BRAVE WILLIAMS CRESCENT CITY CALIFORNIA HOW TO#He continued at SAIT for the remainder of his teaching career, teaching not only math but also training new instructors how to teach in the classroom. His career was shaped by teaching for both Edmonton and Calgary Catholic school boards but, when SAIT sought to hire teachers, Anthony jumped at the chance to teach math at the post-secondary level, including evening math courses at Mount Royal College. He was a life-long learner and educator Tony and Flora's home was filled with books and enthusiastic discussions at the dinner table. As a grandfather, he was a steady source of wisdom and an inventive story-teller. As a dad, he led by example and set high standards. at the University of Calgary in 1970, a few years after the birth of his two children: Rosanne and Maurice. While in Edmonton, he met, fell in love with, and proposed to Flora Iacovone, his wife of 50 years until her passing in 2016. Mary's Boys' High School in Calgary, earned a BSc in Math from the University of Alberta, followed by his teaching certification. After surviving a childhood that spanned the Second World War, 13 year old Antonio immigrated to Canada with his family in 1954. He liked to say he was that year's best vintage. ![]() Anthony was born at the end of grape harvest season in the mountains of the family vineyard in San Giovanni in Fiore, Cosenza, Italy on November 5, 1939. ![]() Sadly, we announce the passing of Anthony Audia in Calgary, AB, on Thursday, Maat the age of 81. ![]()
